And then… they moved. Yes, these “seeds” weren’t still. On closer inspection, they were translucent, like tiny blisters with a dark spot inside. Insect eggs?! More precisely: bed bug eggs of a very rare species. We gasped. One of those surreal moments when everything seems unreal except our instincts, which scream: “This isn’t normal.”
The staff arrived immediately after the call. They, too, turned ashen-faced. The dishes were cleared away at once. Explanations followed: “Storage problem,” “Questionable product from the supplier,” “Isolated incident.” But at that point, we weren’t listening anymore. We just wanted to get out of there. And fast.
